The techno-pop duo of Brandon Lee and Jason Nitti, known simply as Kool Head, are ushering in a new era in electronic music with a style that they refer to as “Black Wave. Lee and Nitti define “Black Wave” as “happy dark” music, with elements of the New Wave, Hip Hop, and Funk genres mixed in.

Their music has been described by their fans as, “cigarette addictive…like playing space invaders with Little Red Corvette blasting in the background.” They have clearly found a successful niche, as they have recently signed a publishing deal with Shapiro Bernstein.

Kool Head’s single “Eddie Go!” is a fun, fast paced anthem to the music loving outcasts of the world and is guaranteed to get you pumped up and ready to rock out all night long.

Their music takes a surprisingly serious turn in the song “Leon”, which is about the horridly inhuman conditions of blood diamond workers in Sierra Leone. Their politically charged message of not ignoring those who are “workin’ like a slave to the bone” manages to remain somewhat upbeat and even makes activism seem pretty cool to a now mostly apathetic generation.

The pair is currently putting the finishing touches on their first EP entitled Black Wave, which is scheduled to be released later this year.
